Enjoyed a week in Flims during lockdown
Did three big manly hikes and had a very fancy meal with friends
Designed and built a double high bed hanging from the roof in the kids room. Many holes drilled.
Holiday in the Azores on São Miguel island in the Atlantic ocean, week two. Hiking and more icecream.
Holiday in the Azores on São Miguel island in the Atlantic ocean, week one. Hot springs and icecream.
You went on a very good ski tour and a vary bad ski tour.
Your massive new bed is complete. Also, you are now considered a 2D drawing expert at work.
Second half of your Montenegrin holiday spent mostly on the coast staying on a bee farm, in a glamping tent, on an olive plantation, in a camping tent and in a hotel.
You went on a family holiday to Montenegro. Hills, canyons, rivers and spomeniks everywhere.
Second week on the Faroe Islands. More rain, waterfalls, tunnels, and fish.
Upon deciding to holiday in the Faroe Islands, people responded in one of two ways: where's that? (mostly from people living in the Southern Hemisphere) and why there? (those from Europe).
Went to Hyderabad India to, effective, train your replacements. KPIs were a big thing. Learning was not. Food was good.

The last few days were spent travelling from Bokonbajevo via Balykchy — a.k.a. ‘Fishkek’, the most desolate town of Kyrgyzstan — back to Bishkek, where you visited the Dordoy Bazaar — a square kilometer of staked shipping containers.
You began the recovery process in Tamga in the style of Yuri Gagarin, and visited Skazka Canyon. You then travelled onward to Bokonbajevo, did some horse riding and slept in a yurt camp.
You went trakking in the Kyrgyz mountain from Echkili-Tash, over the mountains, up the Inychek Glacier to the South Base Camp, and then evacuated by helicopter. Twelve days hiking with full kit: was kinda massive.
You had a mad rush to get everything arranged for Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is nice.
Drippy weather, drippy walls and overenthusiastic plant watering made for a wet week. Also did a klettersteig near Erstfeld
You burnt your feet walking on hot ground before your career as a fire-walker ever got off the ground. Went hiking near the French border after healing.
There is a lot to do when you move into a new apartment. Luckily, you know people who have more free time than youselves who came to help. The week after you did the Bergsee klettersteig with the guys.

You went to Siegen to see the fancy new 3D room, watched an eclipse (rather than working) and then went to the north of France to visit Ever.
It sounded like a good idea to cross country ski up Flumserberg. It also sounded like a good idea to skate back down a black slope. Snowshoe hiking up Pizolsattel was more successful.
Skitour 1: Gulme. Ski-day: Flumserberg. Skitour 2: Vanatasch. Skitour 3/4: Churfirsten. So much snow; too few weekends.
Went to Hyderabad in India to give some training. Sunny +30°C weather and lots of big boulders made it fun. Rode a 2-wheeler and required an emergency whisky.
The elevated avalanche risk and subsequent recent fatalities had made you extra cautions about visiting the mountains. Still, it was possible to go providing you took reasonable precations. Crosscountry skiing on the other hand was damn-safe.
You had no idea what a snow gämel was, but it was fun. Lizanne came to visit Zürich and you saw the Alps (in her opinion).

The weather was determined to ruin the August long weekend. None the less, you went up Grosse Mythen and relaxed.

The super-long weekend started with some very wet weather, so in defiance you went wet-hiking along Creux du Van in Jura. The rest of the weekend was spent in Darmstadt visiting Maren. Darmstadt translates literally to 'colon city'; a fact which even she jokes about.
This year's company soccer tournament was in Wrocław Poland. As usual the team presentations were the highlight and everyone enjoyed the pre- and after-game events, whereas the games were too agressive for a friendly tournament. The boys went out into Wrocław after the game, some returning with hangovers, one with a black eye.
Perhaps a bit early in the year but sunny enough to stay warm, you went outdoor multi-pitch climbing in Biel. A fortnight later Maren came to visit and you all went to Spitzmeilenhütte for the weekend.
If it weren't for the train-chaos on Friday, you would have been awoken by the gently sunbeams shining through your mountain valley hotel window. You got there a bit late, but had a blast anyway doing some cross country skating in Fuldera. Also, your office had an audit and you were grilled for seven hours with questions.
The construction progress on your apartment is continuing as planned, and you were able to visit your apartment. It was still very much a work-in-progress but so far so good. On the weekend you double booked a visit from Brendon and an avalanche safety course. He came along for the weekend-stay in a Swiss alps mountain hut and everyone had a laugh.

You headed back to Duisburg for the last part of your welding course, and somehow passed the damn thing. While there you went scuba diving in the Industrial Park gas tank - no the best diving of all time but an experience. You headed north with your ladyfriend and her sister to visit their grandmother, all the while preparing fo your trip to Tasmania.

This year's hiking adventures got off to a late start, but once the sun came out you were rearing to go up into the mountains. Here's the short version...
You spent a month in Hungary learning how to weld. Time in the country was very relaxing, surrounded by hay bails and sunflowers.
You and your lovely lady are the proud owners of a muddy hole, from which one day shall grow an apartment. Also, mixing people from different countries makes for some very punny-funny moments.
You went camping with With Alex, Grég and Meike in Tessin, south of the alps in Maggia valley. It was utterly spontaneous, being arranges the night before, and worked out well somehow. Got a spot by the river and went rope climbing on 30°C rocks in the sun.

We had made it to the Indian Ocean and took a few days to rest at the beach. We slept in our rooftop tent directly parked on the beach, and relaxed listening to the calm waves. We then caught a speedboat over to Zanzibar, to Kendwa for scuba diving, more relaxing, chatting up German girls, and even getting arrested!

Went camping and bouldering in Engelberg. It was windy and wet.
You spent a week in the Austrian alps in *the* skiing village Ischgl - although compared to Swiss prices / fancyness it was nothing out of the ordinary. The highlight was the apartment's wellness spa. Following this, you had your wrist's screw removed.
Xmas presents from Australia arrived, one of which was an amazing book about a bear who lost his hat. Snowshoe hiking and such on the weekend, and all is good.
Went for a snowshoe hike from Oberterzen to Seebenalp, and then had beer, pizza and crepe. Also massively updated your page, and had trouble with second source supplier at work.
You returned to South Africa after many thousands of kilometers driving though so many African countries. Bourkes Potholes and Kruger National Park were the last two stops before flying back home.

We had 7 people staying with us over a 2 week period. Damn fun, damn busy, damn loud non-stop laughing!
Berlin has a lot of soccer hooligans to deal with. They are smelly, sweaty and I don't like them very much
Went to Zurich for an interview and some other things - also I am well aware most of this happened before the ride we went on
Went on a big ride from the North of Germany all the way back to Berlin
I know this trip was waaaaaaay back in March (I think) but I've not had the chance to write about it until now
The book is almost done. Quick update about the book, interview, Germany. Book complete but needs checking before I order it. Please check and comment
